How Releasing Leads to Healing

I don't know about you, but in this world where we are constantly bombarded with information and distractions, it can be easy to get caught up in negative thought patterns and behaviors. Mindfulness, which is the practice of being fully present and aware of our thoughts, emotions, and experiences without judgment, can help us release that negativity and promote healing on multiple levels - spiritually, mentally, and physically. In this blog post, I want to explore how letting go of negativity can lead to a more fulfilling life and discuss practical tools for embracing mindfulness in your daily routine.

The practice of mindfulness and the conscious release of negative thoughts and emotions can be a powerful tool for mental healing. Many individuals hold onto negative experiences, causing them to accumulate which can then lead to detrimental effects on their well-being. By bringing awareness to these negative emotions and allowing them to pass through without judgment, we can prevent them from taking hold and causing undue stress and anxiety. This allows us to redirect our focus to the present moment, cultivating a more positive and resilient mindset. With regular practice, the release of negativity can help us achieve greater mental clarity and a more peaceful state of mind.

Releasing negativity not only benefits our mental health but also our physical well-being. Heavier emotions such as anger, anxiety, and stress can cause physical symptoms such as tension headaches, muscle pain, and digestive issues. For me it manifested into Graves Disease. I was holding all of my emotions inside. I thought that pushing them away and keeping a smile on my face for everyone else, while having a "No Bad Vibes" mentality was healing me. I couldn't have been more wrong. It wasn't until I worked on developing a mindfulness practice and consciously releasing those emotions, that I started healing and reduced the impact that all of that negativity was having on my spirit, mind and body. Techniques such as deep breathing, visualization, and energy healing can release tension in the body, promoting relaxation and reducing physical discomfort. With regular practice, the act of releasing can promote overall physical health and well-being.

Another aspect that lends to healing of the whole self, is physical movement. Combined with mindfulness techniques, this is where everything changed for me. Engaging in activities such as yoga, walking, or running can help to release physical tension and promote relaxation. You can literally start from wherever you are and build upon your movement. When I couldn't move my arms and couldn't walk without a brace, I did exercises in bed. Try chair or restorative yoga, or take a walk around your kitchen table. When practicing physical movement, it's more important to bring mindful awareness to the experience, focusing on the sensations of the body and the rhythm of the breath rather than keeping up with what it "should look like" or what others might say you should "expect". By bringing attention to the present moment in this way, we can cultivate a deeper sense of relaxation and calmness. The last thing you want to do is add the stress of "getting it right" to your practice of releasing said stress lol.

When working through releasing, I invite to remember that it is going to look different for everyone. You get to choose how you release, what you are ready to release and what you aren't. It's a process and there is no one way or right way. The main thing is that you release continuously so that you can start to heal fully. Releasing that weight feels so good and allows you to shine your brightest.

Hugs,

Heather
